  • Welcome to the City of Fort Mitchell's Web site! We encourage you to browse our site at your convenience.

The City of Fort Mitchell has a population of just over 8,000 people. It is primarily a "bedroom community" for the metropolitan Cincinnati area and is noted for its nice homes and its tree-lined streets. Located on Interstate 71/75 just 5 miles from downtown Cincinnati, it affords its residents and businesses easy access to the entire Cincinnati metropolitan area as well as to the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport, which is only 4 miles away, while at the same time providing its residents with a comfortable suburban environment. Because of its proximity to the interstate system, three hotels and a number of office buildings comprise most of a "commercial base" of the city although there are several good restaurants and neighborhood shopping areas conveniently located.

The City is also noted for its quality school systems. The boundaries of the Beechwood Independent School System are almost identical to those of the city. Beechwood offers grades K thru 12 in one small complex, and is one of the highest-rated public school systems in the entire state. Blessed Sacrament School offers a quality parochial grade school K thru 8 and is also located in the city.

One of Fort Mitchell's greatest assets is that it is part of the metropolitan Cincinnati area, and is located on Interstates 71 & 75, less than ten minutes from downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River in one direction, and ten minutes from the Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky International Airport in the other direction. Greater Cincinnati has long been viewed as one of America's "most livable" areas. While the metropolitan area of Greater Cincinnati may be considered relatively small when compared to most other major cities, Cincinnati offers the whole list of amenities associated with the larger areas; a great downtown, an attractive riverfront, a superior taste of the Fine Arts, major league sports, one of the nations best zoos, superb dining, and is less than a forty-minute drive from Paramount's Kings Island, located on I-71 north of Cincinnati.

Directions to the City Building/Police Department/Fire Department:
From I 75 take Exit 188 and travel south on Dixie Highway for 3/4 of a mile, we are on the left at 2355 Dixie Highway.

The KY Dept. of Transportation has introduced Safety Assistance for Freeway Emergencies (SAFE).  Assistance if provided statewide to motorists who dial 877-FOR-KYTC.
