The City’s Recreation Department is led by Recreation Director Kim Stoll. While Kim is the only employee in the Department, she engages the services of many individuals and independent contractors who assist her in putting together one of the most comprehensive recreation programs of any city in Northern Kentucky.
The crown jewel of the recreation department is the summer program that consists of many activities for all people young and old. They include athletic-type programs, arts and crafts, and general recreational activities. In addition to the summer program, Kim also coordinates the Easter egg hunt, the annual Fourth of July parade, the annual city golf outing, the annual Halloween party for children, the winter basketball program, and a fall and winter arts and craft program. She also schedules various other events throughout the year such as movies, ice skating, and entertainment at General Mitchel Park. Other programs such as computer and cooking classes are held each year.
Kim works closely with the Beechwood School District, which allows the city to use its gym and other classroom facilities for recreation programs. The teachers and other staff at the school also assist in presenting these programs. The city’s relationship with the school is one of the most unique in our area; the school has been anxious to make their facilities available to the residents of the city when these facilities are not being used by the school. Kim also works closely with Kyle Bennett, our Parks Director, because many of her activities are held in city parks.
